“They write songs about feelings, facts, and the struggle for our future ”
Press Kit: The Eephus Band

"Talking Heads meets Joy Division."
AMPLIFIED, ACTIVIST ORIGINAL MUSIC
Face it - we’re on the road to a catastrophic future, unless big changes happen fast. So why aren’t indie bands sounding the alarm?
The Eephus Band gets it — we play high-energy original songs about feelings, facts and the struggle for our future.
We sound like Talking Heads meets Joy Division.
We are a five-piece amplified band based in Brooklyn, and we play fine bars all over NYC.
Our story
“We started out as a little old country-western band” says Peter Levinson, Eephus Band founder. “We played early 20th century deep cuts and B-sides.”
Then something strange happened.
Peter started writing original songs. “As a New Yorker, it didn’t feel real to write about country stuff, like pickup trucks and cowboy boots. I didn't grow up around that”, Peter explained.
So he started to write songs about what’s happening in the world right now. Songs about greed, politics, and our scary future ...Oh, and a few love songs!
Lineup
The Eephus Band is: Jonny Leal (lead guitar), Shelly Leal (vocals and percussion), Jim Kuras (Bass), Timur Yusef (drums) and Peter Levinson (guitar, vocal, and songwriting).
Venues
We’ve played fabulous venues in NYC including: The Knitting Factory, GoldSounds, Cobra Club, The Well, El Cortez, Hanks Saloon, Freddy’s Bar, Bar Matchless, Porch Stomp, Little Skips, RaR Bar, Jalopy Tavern, Parkside Lounge, and Sidewalk Cafe.
